Change in COVID-19 Data Reporting Effective March 15, 2023

SHELBY COUNTY, TN – Based on current COVID-19 trends and the scheduled end of the federal Public Health Emergency on May 11, 2023, Shelby County Health Department will cease emailing weekly COVID-19 updates to the media and other stakeholders and cease the weekly COVID-19 social media posts, effective Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

Shelby County Health Department will continue to post weekly COVID-19 data points on its COVID-19 data page linked on the Shelby.Community website and here: COVID-19 Data Dashboard | Shelby County Health Dept., TN (shelbytnhealth.com)

Shelby County Health Director Dr. Michelle Taylor said the change in data reporting is a part of the Department’s continued strategy to integrate the COVID-19 response into its other public health duties. “SCHD will continue to monitor and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic but will shift communications resources to other more pressing public health issues.”

Shelby County Health Department continues to provide free COVID-19 vaccinations for everyone eligible for vaccination, including children as young as 6 months old, at the following Health Department locations:

  • 814 Jefferson Avenue, Suite 207
  • 1826 Sycamore View Road

COVID-19 vaccinations are available on a walk-in basis Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. 

Other COVID-19 vaccination sites throughout Shelby County can be located by using the vaccines.gov website search function. No cost COVID-19 testing sites in Shelby County can be found on the Testinglocator.cdc.gov website.
