NEWS RELEASE: ANNUAL RABIES VACCINATION DRIVE TO BE HELD IN MAY

MEMPHIS, TN – The annual Rabies Vaccination Drive hosted by the Shelby County Health Department (SCHD) Vector Control Program will be held Saturday, May 6, and Saturday, May 13, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. 


Residents are encouraged to bring their dogs and cats to either location listed below to receive rabies vaccinations:


Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library

Fire Station #66

5469 Raleigh Millington

Millington, TN 38053


Although the majority of rabies cases occur in wildlife, most humans will need the rabies vaccine after being exposed to infected domestic animals.  It is affordable to vaccinate pets before they are exposed to animals carrying the rabies virus. 


The rabies tag, required by law, varies depending on the city of residence.


Memphis

All dogs must be on a leash and cats in a carrier to ensure the safety of both the pet and the public.  For more information regarding the Rabies Drive, call the SCHD Vector Control Program at (901) 222-9715 during regular business hours, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
