Family Planning

The Shelby County Health Department's Family Planning Program offers low to no-cost birth control through a Title X funded grant.  The services, open to male, female and the LGBTQ community, include the following

  • well woman/man exam, 
  • Pap smear with STD/STI exam, 
  • pregnancy testing
  • preconception counseling
  • contraceptive counseling
  • breast exam with referral if needed
  • blood pressure, height, weight
  • urinalysis
  • hemoglobin test if needed. 
The different contraceptives available include various types of oral birth control pills, male and female condoms, Depo-provera injection, implants, intrauterine devices (IUD) as well as a prescription for the birth control patch and ring.
